Thing to remember about genetics & breeding :

*Two rust (or tan) pointed of any color (atat) breed together, Can not produce a Stag red (Ay?)

*Two choco/rust(tan)(bb) breed together, Can not produce a black/rust(tan)(B?) or
  blue/rust(tan)(B?)

*Also a choco/rust(tan)(bb) & a fawn/rust(tan)(bb) breed together, Can not produce a
black/rust(tan)(B?) or a blue/rust(tan)(B?)

*Two blue/rust(tan)(dd) dogs breed together, Can not produce a black/rust(tan)(D?) or a
  choco/rust(tan)(D?).

*Two fawn/rust(tan)(bb dd) breed together, Can not produce black/rust(tan)(B? D?),
  choco/rust(tan)(bb D?), or blue/rust(tan)(B? dd)

*Two clear red (ee) breed together, Can not produce any thing but clear red (ee)

More things:

*To get a choco/rust(tan) both parents must carry chocolate

*To get a blue/rust(tan) both parents must carry blue

*To get a fawn/rust(tan) both parents must carry chocolate & blue

*To get a clear red (ee) both parnets must carry clear red

Things to remember about genetics & breeding:
The NOSE TEST:
Do you know what color I am by looking at my nose ??

THE NOSE
A. B.  C. D. E. F.
A.I am a Fawn/Tan
B.I am a Blue/Tan
C.I am a Chocolate Stag Red
D.I am a Stag Red
E.I am a Chocolate/Rust
F.I am a Black/Tan
So How Did You Do? Did you get them all right?
These are all the natural colors the min pin can come in today..
Yes they did at one time come in brindle, merle aka harlequin & pie bald.
But those colors to the PURE BREED MIN PIN are extinct.
(some breeders are trying to bring back the old colors. I am cool with this, but remember another breed was added in some where to get the color)
Colors the AKC will permit in conformation ring
(AKC codes)

Black & Tan (018)

Questions & Answers
These are some basic, questions I have been ask and the answers to them.
More Q & A's to come:

Question: How many different colors does the min pin come in?

Answer: Min pins come in 12 natural colors these days. They did at one time come in the Harlequin pattern & the brindle pattern, but these patterns/colors are extinct to the pure breed min pin

Question: How would you group the different colors of min pins?

Answer: I would group them in 3 groups

The two/tones (black/rust, chocolate/rust, blue/rust & fawn/rust)
The Stags (red stag, chocolate stag red, blue stag red & fawn stag red)
The clears (clear red, self colored red & Tans)

Question:  How can I get a blue puppy?

Answer: Both parents must carry for the Dilute (blue) gene. You can come up with a percent depending on what color the parents are.

Example:
Blue sire/ Chocolate dam (carrying dilute) The percentile for blue pups from this breeding is 37.5% will be blue.

Black sire (carrying for dilute) /Black dam (carrying for dilute) The percentile for blue pups from this breeding will be 18.75% will be blue.

Question: How can I get a fawn puppy?

Answer: Both parents must carry for BOTH the chocolate and the dilute(blue) gene. And you ask why? Fawn is a dilute of chocolate. So without both the chocolate and the dilute (blue) gene together there will be no fawn.

Question: Can I get a stag puppy from 2 black/rust parents?

Answer: NO. The parents will not have the Ay gene needed to produce a stag pup.

Explanation:
Black/rust, chocolate/rust, blue/rust & fawn/rust carry "atat" All stags have to carry at least "Ay" They can be "AyAy" or "Ayat"

Question:  What would I breed together to produce a litter with the most colors?

Answer: You need to make sure that both parents carry for chocolate, dilute (blue) & clear red. One parent must be of the Stag color.

Question: How can I make sure that a pup I purchase is factored for chocolate, blue and fawn?

Answer: The only way to make sure is if the pup has one chocolate parent and one blue parent (or one fawn parent). That is the only way to be positive, the pup carries for chocolate, blue and fawn.

Explanation:
With the pup having one chocolate parent and one blue parent. The parents have no other choice but to pass on the color they are.

Question: Is there different attitudes for the different colors?

Answer: This is my opinion on attitudes and colors. Some may agree with this some may not. Like I said this is just my opinion.

Blacks - are full of energy & always on the go.
Chocolates - are mouthy,  lovable & shy
Blues - loves every one and knows no stranger & jealous of everything.
Fawns - very calm,  laid back & shy at times
Reds - the boss, no other color can rule a red lol, they are lap dogs for sure, & very devoted to their owners.

White marks and min pins.

White is the absence of melanin, or the absence of color. White contains no pigment.

Many people have been asking me what about the white on my min pin?
A white mark on the min pin is very common but it is not something desired. WHITE is just the absence of color a MISSMARK in the min pin breed.

As stated by the AKC a min pin can be shown in confirmation as long as the mark does not exceed one-half (1/2) inch in its longest dimension
